Would it be a good idea to post a link to any Safranes on E-bay so we can comment on them and maybe find a bargain?

Probably a good idea yes. I'm not in the market for another one but other members may be.

Start with this phase 2, 2.5
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1998-RENAULT- ... 3375283684

This has a few good points, long MOT,5 months tax and the rare chrome grille. Also its got the optional electric/heated seats and 6 disc cd player.

A few of the problems could be fixed quite simply but the knocking would take a bit of looking into, the owner tells me theres only one key,but the door scratchs will polish out,not gone through the paint.
Would want a bit of proof on the mileage(how did it get an MOT with the bulbs out?)as 85k is low for one of these.
A bit of work and a good clean could make this a nice car,MAYBE!.

Here's the latest:
Silver with Chrome Grille

Suffering from rust though but possibly a profitable breaker for anyone with one the same colour.

No idea about the reserve but yes, the rust looks quite bad. I suspect it could be shot blasted down to clean metal and filled / repainted but you'd have to be a really hard core safranian to go that far for a car on ebay. I know I'd do it with mine but those have sentimental value.

The Green car sold for £411,not bad considering it needs some work, but i guess the long MOT/TAX helped.

This looks smart, again a mention of electric seats and CD player so has options, looks clean in the pics(as they always do!)and its already £100 with no MOT/TAX and 150k on it.

Couple of rare spares there, few phase 2s had electric front screen and the rear blind wasn,t standard on all Safranes.
