Are the 2.5 engine mounts the same as the 2 l mounts? I am assuming they are but some pics would be nice just to confirm. Some 2.5 engine bay pictures would be grand as well if possible... |

Hi Chris I can tell you tommorrow for sure if you give me 2.5 and a 2.0 regs. Are you looking at all the mounts or just certain ones? |

just want to see if if the 2.5 uses the same ones. If so then thats crap as the ones on it are barely up to the 2 l. The volvo turbos have the 5 mounts which the Safrane will need as well, just wondering if I need to go it alone or if theres bolt on gear available if the 2.5 uses more than just the 3 mounts. |

2.5 uses 3 mounts. One on top of the timing cover (same as the 2L) one on the gearbox which goes up into the chassis arm and has a nut on top (Under coolant tank) and the last one is underneath the drivers side axle under the engine. I think only the gearbox support is the same as the volvo unit unfortunately. I can't say whether the gearbox and the under engine mounts are the same but I know the top one over the timing belt IS the same on both the 2.5 and 2. I've only ever had trouble with one mount in 3 safranes - #2 had a ripped lower mount under the engine and it used to shake the whole car when accelerating. The other two can't really fail from what I can see as they're mainly metal. |

yust the same as the 2litre then. In fact the same as pretty much all renaults, the lower one (dogbone mount) is notoriously crap on them all. Mine is away, of course its come on quickly, but the main issue was it being soaked in atf for about 2 years. I will do the usual strengthening of the standard dogbone and see about adding the upper one (head to bulkhead) and maybe lower front under rad support to sump area. |

well theres a few ways, the hardcore is to turn up some solid bushings from bronze/ally. This causes other issues. Poly bushes getting pressed in are another option. The cheapest and easiest way is to clean the bushes up, then fill them with tiger seal. For a bit more stiffness cut up an old cambelt or serpentine belt and insert that into the gaps then seal it. This is stiffer. Makes a good difference though. I often do it on new mounts that are notorious fort failure such as dogbone mounts. The stiffer you make it the more vibration is transmitted through the car though. |
