Would anyone please help me with a guide on how to remove the rear bumper on a 1998 Renault Safrane for repairs. Some one drove into the back of mine and damaged the number plate lights. Need to plastic weld the bulb holders and fix the lighting cables.


Any help would be appreciated

Remove the rear wheel arches, then open the boot, remove the black plastic where the boot catch is. Inside there (from memory) there are another 4 screws / nuts / bolts that need to be removed - unless someone has already removed them in the past.

After that I think it just slides off.

EDIT I'm moving this back into the main forum - it isn't a project or modification as such, more domestic maintenance / repairs.

Going to add to this as I had to remove a rear bumper on a Phase 1 once and I guess they are nearly the same fittings
As Saffles said you have to remove the trim on the inside of the lower boot and you see the bolts there,remove rear wheels and unscrew torx screws on bumper edge,but I seem to think there is a 10mm bolt on each side BEHIND the inner wheelarch trim,you also need to lay on you back under the lower rear bumper because there are torx and bolts there aswell.A phase 2 maybe different but I doubt it.

Another point to note is that when you remove the rear bumper you can see the rear sunroof drain tubes ,make sure these are clear and that water is passing through them,they are hidden when the bumper is refitted.
