I've had to dismantle several of these several times (3 saffs, plenty of shock bearing changes lol) and noticed something odd that I never really quite understood..

Most shock absorbers push upwards with the spring resisting compression of the piston.

On the PH2 safrane, the piston pulls down and the spring seems to be used to push up against it. I find this a bit odd (though I've never complained about the comfort).

Any ideas why they work like this? - The rear ones work as normal - pushing the piston up so I'm just curious why the front ones attempt to suck the piston in?
