This can be quite a common spoken message on Phase 2 Safranes and when you hear it alarm bells can be heard, you panic, breathing becomes irratic and you start thinking about expensive repair costs. Fear not because despite all the Safrane electronic wizardry, it's normally something pretty simple which you can fix yourself saving you a lot of money hiring a mechanic to investigate / guess and fix it. It often occurs when trying to start the car. When you turn the key to the contact position (the one before the starter position) it will prime the injector rail and engine. If you hit the starter position straight away before the pressure rail is up to pressure and primed this can cause the system to detect a ignition / low fuel pressure problem causing the car to speak. The injector rail must be at a pre-determined pressure for starting and running the engine. You'll notice that if you leave it a few seconds before hitting the starter position you'll hear the injectors rattling in the engine bay. When they stop you can hit the starter position and you won't hear the warning. The message can also be spoken when driving. Here are some things to try to clear this error:
If the above doesn't solve it (and from a few owners that have had this problem, they have solved it with the above) then your next course of action is a trip to the dealers. Rates vary but my local dealer charges approximately £98 per hour + VAT. Visit to the dealer:

Ageing regulators and faulty drain back check valves are the usual cause for this. Although often I find weeping fuel filters which cause the same issue. Injectors can weep a bit which again drops rail pressure. The schraeder valve on the end of the rail (pressure test port, has the blue valve cap on it) can also weep and often due to heat theres no evidence of a leak here. But getting in ignition on put belt on then start the car as mentioned best fix for this. Juts thought a bit of why it happens might be appreciated. |

I have had the Warning: Fuel injection system faulty coming up and after checking all lines, changing the fuel filter I still drew a blank. Turned out to be the 02 lamber sensor in the exhaust that was causing the issue. |
